Medals and US!!!!

The Nation rejoices the " Best" ever Olympic games , we have won " Six" medals , Our Largest ever contingent of 86 athletes .. Media and Nation celebrating each of the medals .

My heartfelt congratulation for all the medal winners .They have sacrificed a lot to be here , The Wrestlers Sushil Kumar , Yogeshwar , Boxer Mary Kom , Shuttler Saina, Shooters Gagang Narang and Vijay Kumar deserve all accolades , praises and awards The Boxers were unlucky , refereeing decisions went against us , iam sure our future is bright in Boxing and Wrestling

"In the end, it’s extra effort that separates a winner from second place. But winning takes a lot more that, too. It starts with complete command of the fundamentals. Then it takes desire, determination, discipline, and self-sacrifice. And finally, it takes a great deal of love, fairness and respect for your fellow man. Put all these together, and even if you don’t win, how can you lose?”-- Jesse Owens

The above quote sums it up all for the rest our Indian Contingent who participated in Olympics. We lack the fundamentals.
The Hockey Team ..the lesser said about them the Better , The archers ..real big disappointment , Tennis was marred in controversy even before it started . What about sports like Volley ball , fencing , Football ..we are nowhere near the world stage .

The question to ask is when we will be to compete in all sports ? when we will be able to match International standards?
Why is that we settle for a Bronze? Why is that we have few Brave Hearts??
When other nation harvest at least half a century medals.. we rejoice one or two?? we have the second largest population in the world and we are satisfied with just six medals???? when are we going to be the best ?

The over all medal tally indicates the sorry status of our affairs .

Too Many questions but too few answers!!The core problem is not the unavailability of Talent but the lack of willingness to spot and show case the talent . WE as a nation are unwilling to encourage sports and to make sure whoever takes up sport has a safe future.

Ancient India was renowned for its sport .. Fencing , Silmabataam , JalliKattu(Bull Fight) , Malyudham ( Wrestling) ..but as foreign forces invaded we have lost not only our identity but unfortunately our sporting abilities too.

The sporting administration needs over hauling , very corrupt and lethargic administrators , who worries only about money and not about developing the sport , Hockey is one fine example of once a great sport of India has gone to its lowest ebb.

We should fast track our sporting infrastructure development and make sure the right talent is spotted and nurtured. More importantly forget our differences, put the Nation ahead and work towards a future were we will celebrate the "First position in the medals table" .
