The Right History Book....

A Question in History Class ? Who found sea route India ..it will be emphatically answered as Vasco da Gama , all credit to him , the first european to land in India to be preicse Calicut Via Sea Route . I have always wondered how come that a nation which was known to man from time immemorial and had such riches never had a sea route before 1498? well the answer is intriguing , we have been trading with the Romans even before or from 1 B.C and infact "Romans" have come to Kancheepuram which was known as " Kanchi" one of the important commercial and powerful capital in South India.
We were trading incense , spices , pepper and what not . Not only with the Romans but also with the South East Asians. The Arabs are known for trading with us from time immemorial. The question still remains who found the sea route to India ??? or Is it the Indians who navigated , explored around the world established traderoutes.?! Historians Please answer !! In our History books we study, starting from the great Mauryan Empire to how British came to occupy us !how our valiant and great Freedom fighters fought for Independence and got us freedom.Yes we also read about Harrapa and Mohenjadaro( The indus Valley civilizations ). Does this history suffice ? Does anybody know how India influeneced the whole of South east asia and how a decision taken in India would affect the world trade .How we inspired the world's largest Hindu temple and the Hindu empire . yes, the largest Hindu temple is at Cambodia Angkor wat and the Khmer Empire is the largest Hindu Empire .

Have we Read about Bappa rawal,Rana sanga,Guru Gobind Singh,Jijabhai,Gurjara Parvara,Raja Jayapal,Naiki devi,Prithviraj Chauhan,Rana pratap and many more who have fought valantly and repulsed the marauding invaders (Turks,Persians) for more than 150 years.

Do we know that the Chola Dynasty from the southern India was one of the greatest in Asia? They were great Military leaders and they extended the influences of the already vast Chola empire up to the banks of the river Ganges in the north and across the ocean. Rajendra’s territories extended coastal Burma, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Maldives, conquered the kings of Srivijaya (Sumatra, Java and Malay Peninsula in South East Asia) and Pegu islands with their fleet of ships. They defeated Mahipala, the Pala king of Bengal and Bihar. The Tamil Chola armies exacted tribute from Thailand and the Khmer kingdom of Cambodia.

Do we know that Indonesia, Thailand were once a Mighty Hindu empires , do we know that Sngapore was controlled by these Mighty Kindoms ??Are we aware of the Ancient Silk Route?? Tamil was prevelant in most parts of south east asia and even Tamil Brahmni scripts have been found in a port in Tunisia which was once a Roman Trading post !! We had a great military research center at Arikemedu (Tamil Nadu)!!! We had so many native marshall arts which are not covered extensively in our History books. The Greatest Administrative and Statescraft Book " ArthaSasthra" written by Chanakya . Is it getting taught somewhere??? There were Languages known as Pali ,Granth in ancient India ..how many people are aware of this? There were cartographers who mapped the sea route to India during roman times itself , Iam sure not many are aware .. so are we reading the right History of our Nation???

After 1962......

Life is nothing but learning from experience
if not correcting our mistakes but atleast trying to mitigate them next time. This applies to everybody. When we repeat a mistake in school or college, we are reprimanded so bad that we feel as though our life is going to end. When it comes to Corporate ,a mistake done once, sometimes may cost your job even if you are not directly responsible. We are made accountable in each and every sphere of life.
Iam amazed to see that accountability failing when it comes to running the top institutions of the country. The Central Government , well the lesser said the better. It was surprising to see the lack of accountabilty even in a reputed insititution like our respected and " Mighty Military ". We have always had respect for the brave Jawans who put their life on the front in safeguearding out border , but its also painful to know that our military equipments are so obselete and we are lacking far behind in using the latest technology and what keeps our military going is the great will of the personnel involved. There was a recent article about the 1962 China war how we failed to win? and why we failed to win ?and what have we learnt from it?.From the onset , it was a disaster , we were taking on someone who was superior in strategy and also in technology. There was a surprising recent article which said if Airforce was effectively used in 1962 we would have won the war .. !!! so where was the strategy? or who planned the strategy ?..we were taking on the enemy with weapons made in 1932!! Have we learnt something from the 1962 war ?? The answer seems to be an emphatic "NO" . In 1962 the personnel were less and they were armed with 1932 weapons , In 2012 our army is almost a million in strenght but using 1962 weaopns !!! Even an insignificant terrorist outfit seems to have an edge in using latest technologies ...! Useful article from The Hindu "http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/in-dubious-battle-at-heavens-gate/article3992126.ece?homepage=true" All of us, are to remember that there should be an accountability for every " Jawans" Life. We have to wake up and procure arms and ammunitions which can enhance the fighting skills of our brave Jawans and we must remember that they are manning the treachorous border where there are problems on all three fronts . Coast Guard must be updated and enhanced to prevent another MUMBAI style attack. All said and done .. " Will we do it ??" or because of the lacadiscial and lethargic attitude we will still refuse to learn from our Past !
