Hollywood Humour!

Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone have all one thing in common!!It’s easy to say they are all actors, it doesn’t stop there, they have all acted in Hollywood Movies well err!!.. They all have acted in movies where they have made a fool of themselves
The dream of the next big step from Bollywood to Hollywood has become a reality for them but did they have really good roles and lets us assume they did have good roles but they did do justice to it?
Anil Kapoor in Mission Possible could have definitely avoided the role (he should have hung himself rather than taking that role: P, definitely not right! Priyanka Chopra in Baywatch the less said about it , it’s better. Deepika in Fast and Furious, her body language and her voice (sorry im not a big fan) didn’t suit her at all, she cut a sorry figure in a big action movie and it appeared her role was included just to appeal to Indian Audience. The Pink panther Movie where Aishwarya Rai played the villain, it was a painful role and she was making it even more painful. The lesser said about her lipstick at Cannes (Some Feminist will bash me for all the comments but the fact is the above mentioned roles are not worth it ).

It’s a big fantasy for almost all movie starts to land a role in Hollywood. Hollywood has started using Indian artist (also Technicians) not only for their skills but also to ensure to cater to the third largest English speaking market. There were good movies made as well like Slum DOG millionaires, Life of PI ( they are not great but good) Kudos to the Resul Pookutty and A.R Rahman for their Oscars , baring those two highlights most of them have been very jarring .
Indian artist should consider meaty roles, which has substance and which suits their personality well, rather than making a fool of themselves. Even the tryst with the small screen Quantico and 24 Hours were good in patches. It’s commendable that these artists are trying to establish a base there but again choose a sensible and appealing role which would bring out their best rather than just appearing in few scenes for the sake of appearing.

I still remember the role of Naseruddin Shah in the League of extraordinary gentlemen, though not a great movie but something to remember. The Indian King Portrayed in the Prince of Persia and the Indian Pirate portrayed in the Pirates of the Caribbean are stereotypical ( Overweight, with squeaky voices ), our artist should take care these roles are portrayed better next time and definitely add substance to it , would love to see a mature role which is portrayed with passion rather than a lot of cleavage .

The Great Indian Tamasha Continues

I will be the most happiest person if India becomes a real economical and military super power, this is a dream for billions of Indians, regardless of race , caste , creed or religion. When the IT and banking boom happened, it redefined the landscape for millions of Indian Middle class workforce, from having a just a few options of getting a job to big multinationals coming at doorsteps and recruiting and making millionaires (at least few) , this paved the way for the boom in consumption and in turn in real estate and made a lot of billionaires who became large empires overnight right from Ambani’s to Mallay’s. The spending power of a sizable population became a worldwide success story and in effect we can see a lot of changes in the traditional landscape in the Indian economy, Big Malls, Multiplexes, Fine dining restaurants, New brands of cell phones, from one sim cards to multiple sim cards and flying became a great option compared to the Rail and Road, average rent has skyrocketed , a plate of idli costs Rs.30 minimum !!! .. Last 10-15 years has been a great story for India! Or is it really?
The news about retrenchment, Big business empires having enormous debts especially Kingfisher, Rcom, Air India and coupled with slow GDP has started ringing alarm bells. Moreover, the real consolidation in IT as well as Banking has started to shape, the reality is lot of people would lose jobs , they may call it a phase but this is the reality , Big corporate cannot keep recruiting and moreover they don’t have the funding to retain already excess people , this not only happened because of a lethargic skill force but also because of Global factors of other counties saving their jobs and giving it to their own people. The real estate business has shrunk, many are laid off and they are unable to pay their long or should I say lifelong EMI’ and each of them are in huge debt jut to keep up with the consumerism and in fact its best to stay in a rented accommodation
The Agriculture facet of our economy is slowly disappearing and many farmers are coming out of their age old profession to pursue new horizons. Severe drought prevails in most parts of India, but there seems to be no back up plans to sustain the most important work in any country , Agriculture.
The other fact of the economy , the Big Corporate are swallowing huge amount of public money and are not able to repay the debts , the debts are astounding and astronomical figures ranging from Rs.9,000 crores to Rs 21,000 crores , when will they repay people’s money back !!
Lakhs and Lakhs of Engineers , Graduates are churned out every year but who will give them jobs or the question to be asked , do they really posses the skills to survive in today’s world , the irony is even when students pass out of schools/colleges/universities , there are so many scams coming out , they don’t have a clue in the subject they topped !!!
The common man still doesn’t care about Metro coming up in his area or a big mall coming up , what he cares his how tables his next meal, but his savings are eaten up by the banks to negate the losses they incurred by lending it to the so called Best Corporate. The Common man pays taxes as well..in order to bail out for all these corporates!!! He Runs , India Runs .. If he stops everything else stops!!!!
The super power and economy might is still a long way off! But I cant stop running , if I do,The country stops!
